XIV || Medieval European Arming Sword

A troll's take on the Oakeshott Type XIV, perhaps the quintessential "knight's sword".

Embodying the spirit of the late medieval period: an age of strife, but also of great art; this piece is made to meet at the crossroads of elegance and function.

The blade, double edged and tapered gently but consistently.
The guard, a crescent both graceful and strong.
The pommel, made in the wheel style, with deep concave hollowed edges.
The fuller, traveling the partial length, that it may leave mass where it matters for precise cuts and devastating thrusts.

Every element comes together in a harmony of precision and faithfulness; a true companion on the steep foothills of life.
XIV takes its seat in the hand most comfortably, like knight to saddle, or king to throne; boasting tremendous control and balance, stirring its wielder's valiant heart into action - swift and noble as a destrier.

-A blade of stout White Ash
-Hilt fittings of Black Walnut
-Supple 4oz leather wrap about the grip
-Boiled linseed oil to awaken the colours
-A double-seal coat of natural shellac

XIV measures 34.5" / 88cm in total length,
led by a dignified 27" / 70cm long blade,
with 4" / 10cm of grip at the hilt.
