RETURNS
Can I return this knife/sword?
Yes, returns of non-custom pieces are accepted within 14 days of delivery, provided they are undamaged and unblemished. Photos of the item's condition may be requested before acceptance.
My sword broke; can I get a refund?
Refund eligibility will be assessed based on the circumstances. Please note that wood is not an indestructible material, and any item can break under the right conditions. Trollkarl swords are rated for soft practice and padded dummy work. For combat training with other wooden swords, upgrading to Sparring Grade is highly recommended.
Standard swords will not be refunded or replaced for breakage due to improper use.
Sparring Grade Upgrade
Sparring Grade swords, if broken during practice under reasonable circumstances, will be eligible for refund or replacement. Fees may apply.
To initiate a return request, please contact einar@trollkarlarmory.com. Information regarding the damage may be requested to process the return. If possible, please reuse the original box and wrapping to ship the item back if a return is accepted.
DAMAGE & ISSUES
Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you received an incorrect order. We will promptly review the issue and seek to make it right.
Damage in Practice
No effort is spared in the construction of these pieces. Durability, as much as style, is at the forefront of every design to endure the rigors of training. Strength is a standard feature in everything constructed here.
From the selection of domestic and foreign hardwoods to the thicknesses of facets and features, we ensure there is no room for flimsiness. Our joinery techniques, both classic and innovative, lock all parts together as if creating a genuine puzzle.
Nevertheless, with all that said, wood is not an indestructible material, and anything can be destroyed with the right effort. While Trollkarl swords are meticulously made for real-world practice and training, they are meant to be used within responsible parameters.
- A wooden sword is not meant to be used against a metal sword, whether blunt or sharp.
- A wooden sword is not intended to be a bludgeon against hard surfaces.
- A wooden sword should not be stored outdoors in all weather conditions.
SPARRING & NON-SPARRING GRADE
As mentioned above, Trollkarl swords are built for practice, specifically for soft practice such as solo forms training, soft targets like pads and bags, and light exchanges (e.g., stage or theatrical combat).
No warranty is provided for a standard Trollkarl sword used in hard sparring, and no refund requests will be accepted if they are subject to improper use under these terms.
The Sparring Grade class of sword undergoes an entirely different series of construction steps, creating a piece that is fit for high-speed impacts exclusively against other wooden and synthetic blunt swords, as well as against hard-surfaced wooden dummies/pells. Damage and issues involving the Sparring Grade class sword have a greatly reduced likelihood, and any problems found during use are welcome to be reported. Trollkarl Armory will seek to rectify the situation. To inquire about redress regarding a broken sword, please contact einar@trollkarlarmory.com.
SAFETY
Remember, wooden swords are not toys. A wooden sword is a dedicated training tool capable of causing harm to individuals and damage to property if used improperly and irresponsibly. Utmost care is recommended in their use and practice.
- Masks/helmets and gloves are strongly recommended.
- Forearm, shin, and groin guards are optional but also recommended.
Not only does the implement itself represent a risk, but the material does as well. Should a crack or shatter occur, splinters may fly in any direction. Eye protection is highly advised.
NON RETURNABLE ITEMS
All sales of custom commissions and custom engraved work are final, the only exceptions being a defective piece or an error on our part.
REFUNDS
If we agree to proceed with the return process, we will notify you once we have received and inspected your return. We will inform you whether the refund has been approved. If approved, the refund will be issued to your original payment method, minus a 5% processing fee. Please note that it may take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund.
If you request a refund of a non-custom item before your order has been completed and/or shipped, the refund will also be issued to your original payment method, minus a 5% processing fee. Again, please be aware that processing times may vary with your bank or credit card company.
