Phoenix Lotus Special || Exquisite Chinese Nieuwei Dao With Scabbard

Within the sleek sweeping curves and blazing colours of this Chinese Oxtail Saber, resides the fiery essence of a legendary spirit. The Lotus Dao special edition duly dubbed Phoenix spreads its wings and emerges from its ashen nest with every unsheathing from its scabbard.

Seeking to make no mere simple implement, the trollshop sought to imbue an item of power with the soul of mythic significance, as an entirely higher class of equipment.
The Phoenix Lotus Special comes into being as a symbol of ancient artistry, of extraordinary cultural tradition, and most significantly of all as an embodiment of the indomitable spirit of persistence. Only through arduous labour and the overcoming of many challenges could this appropriately be called Phoenix, that which perseveres.

The stunning colours of these premium timbers entwine with the striking features of this sublime classic design known the world over, shining with intensity and vigor.
The blade of Brazilian Jatoba beams its orange-red hue against the contrasting deep brown of African Wenge, further accented by the burgundy red leather wrapped about the grip.

Built in a hand-and-half size for power and ferocity, while yet made for hands pursuing the mastery of elegance.

Its sweeping single broad edge is made as if for literal flight, a geometry born to flow through forms and shift between its circulating guards and mighty rolling slashes.

The scabbard which houses this fiery blade was constructed with adornments entirely new to this craftsman's repertoire of skills. Dedicated leather paint coats the accents in brilliant shining bronze, permeating the whole of the piece with a burst of gleaming radiance. Each segment's shape drawn and cut in reminiscence of the Far Eastern influence in design and mythology.
Finally, the mouth of the scabbard seals with a tuft of rabbit's fur lining, a subtle detail which holds powerful presence, a sophistication both regal and protective.

Phoenix Lotus Special holds a tale of many firsts for the workshop, of persistence through uncompromising difficulties.
Chief among these challenges is the fitment of the scabbard around a sword that is widest near its point, rather than its base, a geometry not easy to encase.
Such a fitment demands a delicate balance danced between a snugness that secures the blade without rattling within, and just enough looseness that it does not bind on the draw of the sword.

This piece made me work for every inch, at every single step of the way. But in each difficulty overcome, the result was resounding elevation, and a final product which may very well be perhaps one of the finest to emerge from these workshop doors, and most certainly one of the most internally rewarding to accomplish.

It is one of the few honoured pieces earning the esteem of the word 'exquisite', fiercely loved, and seeks to be an item owned with pride.

led by a majestic 30" / 77cm long single-edged sweeping blade,
with 6" / 15cm of hand-and-half length grip at its hilt.
