Rudra || Indian Basket Hilted Serrated Tegha

"The Roarer", "Mightiest of the Mighty", "God of Storms".
Rudra _is_ power, ferocity, and a force of destruction taken to mythological proportion.
Its uniquely vicious serrated blade is made to rend and sunder. It is a blade that sings the song of reckoning.

This sword represents yet another stop in the subcontinent of India. Loosely akin to the Khanda and the Tulwar, the Tegha leans all the way in to the sweeping curve of heavy a slicing blade, and sometimes made even more frenzied and ferocious with the the inclusion of teeth with which to rip and tear.

Another core feature of this particular piece is its defining basket hilt, mark of master Indian swordsmiths.

It is a sword to be reckoned with, an implement of shock and awe.

Its blade is a two-layer laminate of flaming grained American White Ash, suiting this sword's fiery character, precisely serrated along its lead and false edges, riding along narrow channeled fullers, and forking at the point into vampiric fangs.
Its hilt fittings are of deep dark American Black Walnut, balancing out the bright Ash with a touch of darkness, like the clouds from which emerge bolts of cracking lightning. The blade is held firm against the winged langets at its base, in turn stitched tight onto the basket, which is cut and shaped from stout armour leather, and flowing finally into the domed disk pommel which hugs the back of the palm snugly when swung.
The tang of the blade trails into the long tail which juts passed the pommel, allowing the wielder of this wild blade to put to use their second hand and their whole body into the swing for maximum devastation.

This is a piece which is released into the world with much pride to this troll's workshop, representing a culture criminally underappreciated in the world of ancient armaments, a challenge which tested the limits of knowledge and skill, and an triumph quite unique in the realm of wooden swords.

This particular sword is unfortunately not available for Sparring Grade treatment, or any kind of heavy impact practice.

It is fit for Light Training against soft targets and display only.

-Supple 4oz leather wrap about the grip
-Boiled linseed oil to awaken the colours
-A double-seal coat of natural shellac

Rudra measures a mighty 46" / 117cm in total length,
led by a vicious 34" / 88cm long serrated blade,
with 4" / 10cm of grip at the hilt within the basket,
trailing into its 5" / 13cm long tail with which to grab with the second hand.
