Honourbound || Basket Hilted Broadsword

A tale of noble hearts and oaths held true, coalesced into physical form.
Honourbound tributes its unmistakable design to the to the warriors of the Highlands, their identity and pride, as an enduring symbol of bravery, heritage, and art.

Its distinctive feature, the basket hilt, a full protective enclosure for the wielder's fist through the rigors of combat and training.
Stout armour grade leather is meticulously cut, formed, stitched, and further stiffened into this iconic cup which encircles the hand in its protective clasp, like a pledge sworn and never faltered. A sweeping cut sits at the base of the basket, painstakingly drafted for faultless placement, allows the wielder to extend the blade fully in handshake grip, taking further advantage of the sword's stunning length to find register upon its target, unimpeded by obstruction.

A broad gleaming blade of White Ash juts forward from the cup, double edged and true, fullered for flare and to give weight to the lead of the sword, before coming at last to a furious point.
Black Walnut comprises its wide crossguard and substantial pommel, turned on the lathe, serving gallantly as counterweight and achieving a balance that allows the wielder to let fly the blade in ferocious slashes and thrusts with intent unhindered.
Its grip is wrapped in rich and supple leather, ensuring and supporting a hold as firm as one's own code of principle.

Honourbound was created with the wish to represent history in the hand, and as a crystalized allegory of one's own heart.

-Synthetic sinew in the stitching
-Supple 4oz leather wrap about the grip
-Boiled linseed oil to awaken the colours
-A double-seal coat of natural shellac

Honourbound measures a grand 40" / 102cm in total length,
led by a 32" / 82cm long straight blade,
with a generous 5.5" / 14cm of grip at the hilt within the protective basket.
